Extremely helpful due to the situation on why we needed such a big house. House was clean, kept all the guests comfortable and able to stay busy with darts, pool table, and hot tub. Host always responded in a reasonable time.

Platypus Hills is a superb retreat! The home was perfectly equipped, clean and so comfortable! Danielle, Susie, Nancy & Dawn are perfect hosts! Available and friendly but respectful of your privacy. The setting is idyllic and provided me and friends a peaceful and relaxing get away that left us refreshed and re-energized. Just loved our time! Thank you all!

Clean. The kids loved all the games in the garage. Wal Mart delivery available. A baby gate would come in handy.

Julie is awesome! Was quick to respond with a solution to a problem and all in all just very helpful. I travel a lot for work and it’s the little things that make a huge difference, after being on the road all day it’s nice to have a quick response. If I come back down this way for work again I’ll be staying again!

This house was perfect for our girls’ weekend. Plenty of comfortable spaces to hang out both inside and outside. Comfy beds. Overall very peaceful, which is exactly what we needed!

We wanted a place with a view and boy did we get it, the river right outside your back door was amazing. It felt like home as soon as we walked in, it was her birthday and they left brownies and a happy birthday for her. All in all we went to relax and that's exactly what we did!!!!

The place continues to be a peaceful retreat while visiting a chaotic family. We always check for this location first when planning a trip to the area.

This was without a doubt one of the most luxurious and clean places we’ve stayed. It felt like ‘home away from home’. The host was very responsive and so thoughtful, even leaving a few gifts for our son. It was filled with lots to do. Every detail was thought out and it showed. We’ve already discussed when we can return next and can’t wait to recommend this stay to friends and family.

My family had a wonderful time at this beautiful, magical farm. We loved meeting the animals and enjoying the outdoor space. I was quite taken with a cute family of ducks who would wander the property, quacking cute ducky things to each other. The weather is still pretty chilly, so we really enjoyed the fire pit in the evening. The renovated milk house space was perfect. There were many small touches that made the space feel personal and comfortable. The kitchen was well appropriated and we were easily able to prepare meals when we didn’t want to eat out. Also! The fresh eggs Susan left for us were next level amazing. We’d definitely like to stay again!

Our stay was perfect! Alisa was an accommodating host and easy to communicate with. Her place is exactly what is pictured and is as described. My kids loved her DVD collection and we had a great time playing games — we were indoors mostly since the weather wasn’t cooperating for fishing. We felt completely comfortable!

The pictures don’t do this house justice. Beautiful views, comfortable and clean accommodations. We had everything we needed. Host was very responsive and kind. Thank you for allowing us to check in a bit early. It really helped after 3 long days of traveling.

Tammy's home was just as the pictures show it. Very clean. Well-equipped kitchen. Beautiful views. Lots of space. We watched deer and other wildlife. The wifi was slow, but we weren't trying to work. Vandalia is close with all the necessities. We even went into St. Louis a couple of days. Tammy was quick to respond when we had questions.

Place was amazing. Great hospitality.

A must stay if you're traveling with dogs to Lake Sara. They definitely encourage dog owners to stay with them given their dog friendly approach with plenty of towels for dirty paws, waste bags, and furniture coverings.

Luke was quick to respond about a low battery issue with the thermostat. He is very personable and easy to talk to. One slight issue with there being an ironing board but no iron and one side of the couch was loose. Beautiful scenery, right on the water; ducks, geese and we even saw an eagle several times!! My family and I would definitely stay here again!!! Thanks, Luke!!

A very well done upgraded cozy clean cottage. Multiple sitting spaces for large groups. Tara is the best host you can ask for as she is very responsive to any questions. You basically have your own peninsula with tons of yard space. My wife liked birding and kayaking (extra fee for the kayaks… and wife) while I enjoyed the beach and fire pit area. The kitchen is well stocked. A lot of small details are thought through with this cottage including bathroom soaps, dishwasher and laundry detergent. The photos do not do the property justice. We hope to be welcomed back in the future. 😊

My husband and I have stayed in at least a dozen AirBNBs and this is one of our favorite ones. We will *definitely* be coming again! It felt like we were in a treehouse! I LOVE natural light so having all the windows to look out at all the beautiful fall colors was amazing. The handiwork and craftsmanship of the home is impeccable. So private and serene and still just 30 minutes away from the bustling city. I greatly appreciated how VERY clean it was! No complaints at all! :) thanks Debi and Matt!

Maddy’s place was perfect! Our trip was changed a few times due to work and Maddy was always so quick to help and adjust everything we needed. We will absolutely be staying again if we come back to the area!

Great location ! Located between Chicago and St. Louis so about a 3 hour drive to get peace and quiet. Cabin appears to be newly built and the place is SPOTLESS !! 10 minute drive to Walmart or Kroger or if you prefer get some local good eats !! Also plenty of Firewood for us city slickers :)... Has a smoker and a Blackstone griddle that are really good. Only thing if one prefers , bring a charcoal grill if allowed ..?? Place was awesome !! Thank you Jennifer and siblings. 5 STARS !! We'll be going back !!

we had a great time at H&M retreats! We rented the entire property for a family gathering and it was perfect for our group. The main building is set up well for dining and hanging out and the cabins are cozy and well laid out. Everything was very clean and the property is very peaceful.

This place was great. There isn’t much around here to do, especially in the winter, but we were looking to mostly disconnect from the outside world for a week and this was great for that. Aside from laundry there is really is everything you need to live here full time including a fully stocked kitchen with various helpful appliances like a crock pot and toaster stashed away but accessible. Perfect for a few days or a full week! It was a little dusty in some spots but otherwise clean and well kept. Had a great time. Hoping to come back when the weather is warmer and take advantage of the lake!

Carol’s cabin was amazing. It was beautiful, clean, and exactly what we wanted. I will definitely stay again when I’m back in the area. Highly recommend Carols cabin to anyone traveling in this area.

I felt right at home between the cozy cabin and the hospitality, you can't beat it!! This family is very warm and welcoming. It is by far the cutest airbnb I've ever stayed in, Gloria has it decorated very nice. My boyfriend and I loved it so much we decided to book 2 more stays with this host. Before I booked, I wasn't sure what to expect with the size of the cabin, but was pleasantly surprised with the layout. It is perfect and there's plenty of room for us two, our child and a big dog! 10/10 recommend.

Stood here a few days with the a family and things could not have been better. Its right off 41, in a perfect location, Turkey Run was 5 mins away, Shades was about 25. My kids loved the cabin feel of the place, we had a fire every night and made smores with the kit left for us. We hiked for 4 days and were done with the trails, but did not want to leave this beautiful place. It was absolutely spotless when we walked in. Will be back next year for sure!
