Chicago’s most entertaining magic show! Fun, intimate, sometimes outrageous, and always hilarious. Door opens 15 minutes prior to scheduled start time. Venue is BYOB. Cups and bottle openers are available if needed. We do not stock ice but there is a 7-Eleven just down the street (3407 N Halsted). Performance runs approximately 1 hour. This experience is ongoing. You will be using a coal-fired forge, treadle hammer, tongs, cross peen hammer, and anvil, along with a 2"X72" belt grinder. We will be hand-forging a railroad spike into a beautiful and functional knife. We will start by firing the coal forge and drawing out the handle with the treadle hammer. We will twist the handle and start drawing out the blade. Once we have a handle and blade formed we will "quench" the blade to harden it. We will use the grinder to put an edge on your finished Railroad Spike Knife. We'll meet at my bike loaner HQ in Chicago's Wicker Park where we'll discuss the day's ride and get comfortable riding together. Then, I will lead you on a 3 hour custom bike ride through several Chicago neighborhoods on Chicago's trendy Northwest side. We will: -ride under the historic "L" train, on Chicago's Bloomingdale rail trail, and through a grand west side park designed in the 1870s. -get a taste of Chicago's craft beer scene (if requested), a local ice cream institution, and a neighborhood eatery. -see a wide range of architectural styles and oddities, a great skyscraper view, movie locations, and ever changing street art. ** I have a small number of older model loaner bikes available for people who do not have their own. During our street photography tour, we will visit various iconic sites here in the city where we will observe, discuss our artistic approach and photograph each site in a unique manner. I will instruct you on various techniques and how to confidently apply them to different scenarios and sceneries. Each guest will be photographed by me in front of the different sites and emailed their copy for their personal use.

You will learn the basics of forging iron with a coal-fired forge. You'll meet me at my shop, and with a hammer in hand you'll learn the basics of blacksmithing. You will square, taper, twist, bend, scroll, and flatten the metal into your unique wall hook. Other things to note This is a rustic hands-on work experience. Be prepared to get dirty! upon entering Aroma Workshop in Chicago's Lincoln Park guests are given a card to indicate which scents from our "Scent Bar" they like, then a friendly Perfumer expertly blends scents on tester strips for the guests to sample. When their favorite is picked it goes into a choice of 1 oz. bottles. BOTTLE IS INCLUDED Also, we're are BYOB, so feel free to make it a little event. :) You'll have the appointment time for anywhere between 45min to 2 hours depending on your group size (45min for groups of 2, etc.). Women, Men, Couples, Mothers Daughters, Best friends all have fun creating scents together. **Groups of 5+ are $65 per person and have a 20% service fee included on the non-sale amount to be paid in shop :) 2.2oz bottles are given for this. Our main objective is to break down stereotypes that often are connected with spray paint. Guests will leave with curiosity and basic skills when applying aerosol to boot.

You will build a full tang knife or blade from a high-carbon steel blank. You will use a 2"X72" variable speed belt grinder to establish a primary bevel.  Next, you will choose from a selection of handle materials (scales), ranging from exotic hardwoods to composite materials. micarta, You will shape and form your scales to fit your grip and liking. Next, you will finish your scales and prepare for assembly. You will create a high-quality, fully functional knife or blade that you will be proud of and use for years to come. I will be teaching you how to make 3 different types of pasta from scratch, how to incorporate a healthy twist into each one, show you how to make a delicious sauce using ingredients already in the pantry. We meet you on our homestead in the deep, lush forests of Northern Michigan. After a short introduction we venture off with the goats, down the trail, deeper into the woods…as they browse and forage for food. Discover a part of Chicago only known by locals -- our miles-long system of underground tunnels known as "The Pedway." This engaging adventure pops you in and out of beautiful buildings, familiarizes you with the most interesting parts of the Pedway, and shows you the best hidden details downtown that people walk by every day. This is not a typical "must-see" tour for typical tourists -- it's a "must see" experience for travelers who want something BEYOND what's typical. The tour begins with an introduction to downtown Chicago's famous "Pedway" -- the mysterious system of passageways and tunnels that keeps us all warm & dry in bad weather, and cool in the summer. Walking under entire blocks, we'll access interiors that seem to come up out of nowhere, stumbling upon hidden corridors of stained glass, underground swimming pools, and more. We'll then use what we learn in the first part of the tour to navigate the least-known parts of the Pedway, ending with a beautiful interior in one of the most unique and famous buildings in the country. Guests should be prepared to be on their feet for about 2 hours. It is an easy walk, but still -- it's a little bit of exercise, and please be aware that there are several sets of stairs!
